The Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education + Morgan State University
Dr. Abimbola Asojo, Dean and Professor in the School of Architecture and Planning, at Morgan State University was awarded a $30,000 Nuckolls Grant to assist in the establishment of an architectural lighting program. This became the first program with an emphasis on architectural lighting at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
Last week, Dr. Asojo spoke with the BUILD community about this lighting education program and many others she has contributed to developing at universities across the country. Students in these programs are able to learn the principals of lighting, understand different qualitative and quantitative measurement and design strategies, and apply everything in real-time. Students are able to build a foundation in lighting codes and requirements while also diving deeper into lighting design that maximizes positive psychological, physiological, and cultural impacts.
We are grateful to the The Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education and to Dr. Asojo and her teammates for their hard work! 👏
