Lighting can tell a story, just like the many other visual elements of filmmaking. At the Museum of the Moving Image (MOMI) in NYC, you can explore one of the world’s most important inventions through the lens of cinema!

On Aug 2, 2025 the Museum of the Moving Image and the Lewis Latimer House (LLH) hosted “Magic Hours: Engineering Lighting for Cinema, part of the Open Worlds 2025 and Open Worlds: Science series”

That year, BUILD's very own Designer, Quincy Drane, created a cinema-inspired light installation on the Museum’s first floor: “Magic Hours” where visitors could experience firsthand how light sets a mood.

This installation utilizes 16 Lutron Ketra downlights, and with the help of MOMI's Director of Info Technology, Mauricio Roldan, the installation was programmed with the two different scenes.

Thank you Rose Vincelli Gustine (MOMI) and Ran Yan (LLH) for the great opportunity!! The day also included an Artist Talk that Quincy participated in.
